Description
A ride on Verde Canyon Railroad's historic and scenic route from Clarkdale to the ghost ranch of Perkinsville deep within Arizona's other grand canyon is an unforgettable experience.
Verde Canyon is accessible only by fully-restored vintage train and here in Perkinsville it turns around and goes back to Clarkdale.
Perkinsville is named for A. M. Perkins, who established a cattle ranch here in 1900. In 1912, the shortline, financed by William A. Clark to service his copper smelter in Clarkdale and his copper mine in Jerome, opened a station in Perkinsville.
This abandoned train station is pictured in this photo.
Scenes from "How the West Was Won" were filmed at Perkinsville in 1961.
