Description
As seen from Casa Kimberley.
During the filming of the movie "The Night of Iguana", Richard Burton purchased Casa Kimberley, a nine-bedroom villa, for £37,000, for Elizabeth Taylor, on Zaragoza Street as her 32nd birthday's present, a few months before they married. As a gift to himself, and to ensure he would always have somewhere quiet to sit and read (his second-greatest passion), he purchased the house across the street.
Liz Taylor lived in Casa Kimberley with her personal rooms on the top floor; Richard Burton lived in the house across the street and built the bridge (Lover’s Arch) linking over to his lover’s home, so he wouldn’t have to cross the street to get there. It is said to be inspired by "The Bridge of Sighs" that you'll find the Italian city of Venice, but upon review, we can see it actually resembles "Ponte della Paglia", not the former.
This is the bridge today after renovations. Originally it was pink and the house across the street didn't have the dome but it's beautiful anyway.
