Description
The first church on the island was built on this site in 1890. It would have been constructed as early as 1878 had it not been for a dispute with the sawmill operators. The logs prepared by the settlers for the church were seized, setting back their plans for several years. The original served the community until 1927 when this larger one was built in its place.
Photographed on Hecla Island, Manitoba, Canada.
