Arizona desert landscape in its stark beauty. Many people, visiting the Southwest desert for the first time, expect to see a sandy waste something like a Sahara. Instead, they find a land that is more like a botanical garden. Jagged "cardboard" mountains make a background for the display of weird foliage on an even layer of egg-sized rocks.
