Description
The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, popularly known as the Chapel at Jaszczurówka is a small wooden church that is worth visiting not only because it was designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz, but mostly because of the way it was originally built, meaning without the use of nails. It's religious denomination is roman-catholic.
The chapel is a typical example of the Zakopane style, built in years 1904 - 1908. Noteworthy are the ornate turrets, the decorated roof and stained glass windows. The temple is located on a hill, made of spruce, based on a high stone foundation.
The interior is equally interesting, because the main altar resembles the shape of a highland hut, and the large size lacy wooden chandelier makes quite an impression.
The chapel is located on the Lesser Poland Wooden Architecture Route.
