Love this. I knew one that was a pet many years ago. He was an adorable creature that would whistle when his belly was rubbed. Thanks for the memory of this wonderful creature.

Artist's Description

Coati also known as the hog-nosed coon, snookum bear and the Brazilian Aardvark, is a member of the raccoon family.
They have bear-and raccoon-like paws and walk on the soles of the feet, as people do. The coati snout is long and somewhat pig-like and extremely flexible and can be rotated up to 60 degrees in any direction.
Their geographical range extends from southern Arizona through northern Argentina, and they are often seen in Costa Rica and Mexico. Coatis live in the wild for about 7 to 8 years.
The coati is an omnivore; its diet consist mainly of ground litter invertebrates and fruit. Coati females and young males live in groups of 4 to 25 individuals.
Males over 2 years become solitary and will join the female groups only during the breeding season.
Photographed in Mexican marsh on Mayan Riviera.

Through the years, I tried my hand at many things to satisfy this hunger within me. Painting, interior decorating, gardening, crafts; I have done it all with more or less success, but only photography held my interest for over 30 years, and even more so since digital era. It is my passion pure and simple and it brings so much joy to my life. It has taught me to appreciate what surrounds me. Picture taking fulfils my need to be creative. My images are about emotions and...
