Description
Maligne Lake is a lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is famed for the colour of its water, the surrounding peaks, the three glaciers visible from the lake and Spirit Island, one of the most photographed locations in the world.
Maligne Lake is fed and drained by the Maligne River, which enters the lake on its south side, near Mount Unwin and drains the lake to the north.
The contiguous national parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho, as well as the Mount Robson, Mount Assiniboine and Hamber provincial parks, studded with mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and limestone caves, form a striking mountain landscape. All parks mentioned above were inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1984.

Many thanks Hanne. Jasper NP is breathtaking everywhere but this lake is something else. Love it.

Thank you most kindly Kai. It's so beautiful there it makes me speechless every time I visit.

Mike, below, said the very words I was about to utter: majestic! Little red boat/canoe just adds to the grandeur of the scene by showing how little we are compared to great big nature.

Excellent well-exposed image. Teresa. Love the blue sky with wispy clouds, nicely contrasting with the greyish mountains. Voted.
